Recently
Pakistan captured a fighter aircraft pilot from Indian side during airstrike.he
was treated and released as per the convention. It averted a war like situation
between two nations.
Therefore,
the convention is playing a significant role in times of war. It is protecting
dignity and rights of an individual captured during war. Sometimes, it avert
wars by realisation of peril of war by governments in armed conflict.
