According
to ILO (international labour organisation) 'child labour' means exploitation of
children by any form of work that deprives child from their childhood,
education, health. Child labour persists mainly due to poverty (as suggest by
Gurpadswamy committee in 1979).
In
India child labour mainly seen at shops, mining, agriculture, hotels, etc due
to cheap labour and easy availability. Due to increase in instances of
exploitation of child government and other social activists like NGOs start
many initiatives like:
1) Child labour(prohibition and
regulation ) act,1986 which lists hazardous occupations and prohibit child's
(5-14yrs age) employment in them (amend it in 2016)
2) Save child program
3) Bachpan bachao abhiyan
4) Right to education act
5) Mid-day-meal in schools
6) Rehabilitation centers
7) National child labour project for rehabilitation e.g - PENCIL portal
.2) Save child program
3) Bachpan bachao abhiyan
4) Right to education act
5) Mid-day-meal in schools

7) National child labour project for rehabilitation e.g - PENCIL portal
.
But
despite these efforts child labor still prevalent in many parts of country
(according to ministry of labour and employment) but it shows declining trend(
2001 census-1.26cr, 2004 NSSO survey-90.75lakhs, 2011 census-43.56lakhs) means,
eradicate child labour by giving more efforts like:
1) Generate awareness
2) Giving employment to parents
3) Work from ground field level
4) Effective implementation of programs
5) Strict punishment for violation of laws

"if
we can't begin to agree on fundamental such as the eradication of most abusive
form of child labour, then we are really not ready to move forward in
future".
So,
to make better future of our country both government and citizens take
effective steps to complete eradicate child labour and let the children's enjoy
their livelihood.
