IN THE WAKE OF DISHA CASE, EXPLAIN THE CONSTITUTIONAL SAFEGUARDS AND MEASURES FURTHER NEEDED TO BE TAKEN FOR THE WELFARE OF WOMEN IN INDIA.


            According to Thomas Reuters Study, Delhi is the most Unsafe place for Women to live. NCRB Reported that 1000 Crime Against women are Registered daily.
            This shows the state of Women in India, which we can see from the recent Rape and Murder incident of Hyderabad where 27 year old veternary doctor was raped and burned to death.
Constitutional Safguards:
* Right to Equality under article 14 which suggests that Women are no Inferior to men.
* Part 3 of the Indian Constitution specifically defined that there should be no discrimination on the basis of gender.
* Directive Principle of State Policy under Article 39 provided equal wages and living conditions for men and women.
Schemes by Government
* Vishakha Guideline given by Supreme Court led to enactment of Act against Sexual harassment at workplace.
* Nirbhaya Fund was setup after 2012 Delhi Rape case to ensure women safety.
* Shelter homes for Destitute women to prevent them from abuse.
* Udaan Scheme for Girls to pursue Higher Education.
* PCPNDT act, 1994 enacted to save Female Fetus.
Problems associated with Women Safety in India:
* Pendency of Cases on Crime Against Women, as per NCRB report 90% of the cases are pending.
* Lithargic Justice system of India.
* Physical and Mental Violence Against Women, as per NHFS-4 Survey a 3rd of Married women in India Suffer during their lifetime.
* Effectivness of Policing system and Lack of Sensitisation to the Police.
* Lack of Inculcation of moral values at school level for children.
Women are worshipped as Goddess in India. As said by Gandhi, a person who see every women as her mother/sister is a vaishnav. We need to inculcate Gandhian System in Personal as well as Public Life.
